All volunteers will work together to ensure that the organization is current, up to date, and relevant to current business, industry, labor, and professional employment practices.

Community Outreach Liaison

Internship (Non-paid) |  We do offer either College/University credit

You will represent Tragic is Magic for on phone, emails, in person outreach within California. Develop relationships with community leaders and serves as the organization's liaison with various constituents interested in supporting Tragic is Magic’s events and activities.

Application

Preferred Qualities

  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience with community outreach
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant Social or Behavioral Science field
  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines

Grant Writer

Internship (Non-paid) | | We do offer either College/University credit

Responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, and will persuasively communicate TIM's mission and programs to potential funders. Submit grant requests, establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation
contacts, conduct prospect research, and maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.

  • Minimum of two years experience with grant writing
  • Previous experience with non-profit fundraising
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments
  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
  • Able to monitor and meet income goals

Event Planner & Coordinator

Internship (Non-paid) | | We do offer either College/University credit

We are looking for someone to meet with clients to work out event details, plan with the client and their team, scout and book locations, food, entertainment, staff and cleanup. Create budgets and stick to them, as well as organize transportation, hire and wrangle keynote speakers or celebrities, hire A/V teams and equipment, and generally make sure the event runs smoothly, efficiently and handle any crisis that may come up.

  • A bachelor's degree in hospitality, communication, public relation or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous apprenticeships or internships related experience
  • Communication skills, organization skills, delegation, collaboration and customer service skills; attention to detail

Social Media Manager

Internship (Non-paid) | | We do offer either College/University credit

Responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the organizations' social media strategy in order to increase brand awareness, improve marketing efforts and increase our community following.

Application

Preferred Qualities

  • Bachelor's degree in a field like communications, journalism, or marketing
  • 2+ years experience in marketing
  • Writer and computer skills must have at least 3 years of experience
  • A good understanding of social media marketing techniques

Program Manager

Internship (Non-paid) | | We do offer either College/University credit

Provide quality control for the organization's academic scholarship program through methods such as handling the budgets, staff, activities, and intended communications. Manages a committee and/or volunteers that coordinates programs for Tragic is Magic. Designs programs that align with the organization's mission and support the organization's goals.

  • Bachelor's degree in field like organizational behavior, management and essential accounting and budgeting skills
  •  5+ experience in a supervisory or managerial role
  • A history of managing programs or projects
